The kibbutz was owned by the people who lived there, the "bosses" were elected by the workers, and overall decisions for the community were made democratically. I recall being impressed by how young-looking and alive the older people there were. Michael Ohayon, a detective last seen in the Saturday Morning Murder and Literary Murder, investigates a delicate murder case–the secretary of the kibbutz has been poisoned, and Ohayon must expose the deepest secrets of an egalitarian society.

Language: English. Brand new Book. An unlikely murder on a kibbutz has Michael Ohayon, the detective from the "acclaimed Saturday Morning Murder" and "Literary Murder," trying to find a killer in a unique closed society/5(). Murder on a Kibbutz: A Communal Case Batya Gur Buy this book is at least as much about the world of the kibbutz as it is about the murder of beautiful, headstrong kibbutz secretary Osnat.

A murder on a kibbutz is almost unheard of. Lives are so intertwined that tensions which might lead to this are quickly detected and resolved. Michael Ohayon, the police inspector assigned to handle a suspicious death on a kibbutz, quickly concludes that handling a crime in a kibbutz is much like handling one in a close-knit family.

This book is as much about the insular society of an Israeli kibbutz as it is about Inspector Michael Ohayon solving a murder. While I didn't find the murder mystery terribly absorbing, I was fascinated by the details of kibbutz society/5(8).
